Flexible brake lines

Hi all…can anyone direct me to where I might find part numbers for flexible brake lines for a 67 patrol…I’ve searched the forum for info but I’m probably not doing something correct…and if nos flex lines are not available perhaps a suitable replacement…thanks

Check the 'Compatible Parts List here https://60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3381 to be sure you get the correct ones for your year Patrol. they changed around the end of '67.

I just rebuilt my brake system and used the hoses from the compatible list. I just bought brake line and fittings to make all of the hard lines.

Hey all,

I’ve just completed the project of replacing front wheel cylinders on my ‘69 (really ‘68) L60. Process went ok but I snapped one of the hard steel brake lines from the wheel T block (or whatever that is called) to the wheel cylinder. I would like to replace these short (8”) hard lines with flexible stainless lines but I’m confused on the fitting sizes. It appears that the fitting size into the wheel cylinder is male 3/8 x 24, but the fitting size into the T block is different (maybe male 3/8 X 20). Can someone confirm? Also, what are my options? Can I purchase flexible lines with that configuration or do I need to find some type of fitting adapter.

You might be able to find someone to make a hard line for you. A brake or hydraulic shop maybe.

One thing you may want to consider is that when you replace hard brake line with soft or flex line it may soften your brake pedal response. I had a guy at a specialty brake parts supplier tell me this once. It probably wouldn’t be much of a difference but it does make sense when you think about it…the flex lines can move and absorb some of the force whereas the hard won’t…just something to think about.

Also, I’ll be finishing my brake line and fitting install over the next week or so and can post what size the fittings are for each connection (ie: distribution block, flex or hard line, etc.)

Thanks for the responses.. I had a local auto supply company sell me a replacement hard line, which I was able to bend and install. I used new brass 3/8 24 fittings, so hope I do not have a leak when I add brake fluid. I won’t know for a while, as I’m going to wait until I get the rear axle shaft issue resolved, which will likely require back brake disassembly.

On a good note, I’ve learned a lot over the past week about Patrol brakes.

I’ll be watching your progress Scootermixon and may need to go down the complete brake line replace path. If that happens, I may ask for a phone call to hear a bit more of the details. Good luck.
