You order these in various lengths to accommodate your specific application. I ordered mine a bit shorter than I should have (ordered 8", should have gotten 9") Upside is that I have a healthy reserve!

OMG! Sorry for the delayed response. I used the factory hole. As soon as I found the correct depth / length for the probe, it was just a matter of finding the correct diameter mount plate. As I recall, it was shockingly easy.

Thank you for posting this, I’m sending my tank off to go get patched and sealed next week. I’ve been searching all night to find a new sending unit.
